Good finds on leisure ride 雨後豐收

A wool blend yardage with windfalls gathered after strong wind made the autumn theme.
Scarfs I printed with all natural botanical pigments with leaves gathered on my bike ride.

It's a nice day after typhoon. I need to get some leaves for my upcoming project with tertiary textile students.  Know that there must have some blown off leaves after strong wind so I went biking to collect the windfalls.  What a good find and leisure ride.  I gathered some assorted leaves incl. casaurina, eucalyptus, fallen flowers...... back home with a few flowers from friend's garden to do experiments immediately.

Bundled boiling for 1.5 hours, opened with curiosity ......
Images speak themselves.....
Prints of little flowers from friend's with white shade and yellow spot, eucalyptus of assorted red, orange and green, morning glory and bottlebrush as resist of white shapes.

My style is "less is more" but for all those leaves testing I've to do all-on-a-piece.
This is rich but good sample testing.
I tried the morning glory (alamo vine) as I've seen Irit Dulman's mention. My prints of flowers are only pale purple but leaves are nice resist.

I'm too impatient. I made two pieces overnight as I really wanted to see the outcome  while the leaves are still fresh to do with.

The wool blend yardage from the stall is quite a good buy. I bought lots to play with.

This piece reminds my good day but I'll give it to someone I've never met.  I want to show these prints are from the plants gathered in her place.  Wish she finds it unique with my handmade - I even hand rolled hems which I seldom do - kind of "slow fashion".
This piece is for myself. Mogi approves it and he shows me how to appreciate nature and how to enjoy peace of mind my own space.
Wish you enjoy my creation.
Next weekend I will have friends coming for the fun play.  Thrilled ! Nicola Brown is in town with us.

Back to track with creation 回到生活軌跡

"Sounds a good day!   Looks as if a colorful day to start with........"
After some days rest post my Canada trip I'm back to routine. Mogi is back to track - so attached to me !  Always my model for the pose.

Have skipped two months hiking with the team.  Of course I should do my fav.  sports to keep healthy as well.  I miss my team so this Friday I went hiking with them on Lantau Island.

We walked up in the mid ....... down view is the Shek Pik Reservoir and the sea.
It's a sunny day with blue skies.  Can't imagine two weeks ago there're severe typhoon damaged a lot the trees over the mountain. Just on the ground some pines and cones. I picked a few home.

Up to our destination was the Wisdom Path

The path lined with 38 wooden monuments inscribed with the Heart Sutra prayer.
Life should be slow...... as the roaming cow on my return way...... he's not alone. There're quite some in the mountain but he just enjoys being alone, like me.
With the windfalls home in that hiking day........ nice picks for my next excperiment.

In that hiking evening I was already in a briefing session with tertiary students in the HK PolyU
I showed them the works of my eco-printings from simple basic to shades. There will be sessions for the interaction with students soon.

Back home on Sat morning I immediately done a piece of experiments with the leaves got on walk with the inspiration from Irit Dulman's blog post.
Irit is my mentor in the area of eco printing.  Her works are amazing and no doubt she's the pioneer in the field and ever my respected artist.

My heartfelt thanks for the prints with pines (or casaurina) and the assorted mordants applied in different ways for various outcome learnt or inspired from my Israel teacher/mentor Irit Dulman.

Chapter closed

Thank you to the wonderful ladies you made my chapter beautiful, you made my journey wonderful! You made my world colourful!
With Norma Janes and Genoa Daniel 's fantastic co-ordination and hospitality, my teaching in BC Vancouver, Comox Valley was marvellous.

Students made fabulous eco-prints and nuno felted wearables.

Eco prints from onion skins to flowers, from colour to shades....tricks and skills formed the fabric art and some even made into wearables .
My assignment closed with the good memories of the leaves prints.
All these leaves yell colours or shapes
This handmade journal from Margo Duke marked my journey- bounty from nature Sept 2017.

Vivid Colours

Just in the past 24 hours those colours around me were amazingly beautiful.
Woke up with the stunning sunrise from host's grand house. Then forwarded to Mt Washington, Paradise Meadow for a trail walk in the woods.
In early fall still warm and sunny but in the further mountains the year round with snow.
It's fresh walking in a sunny day

The evergreens are ever never boring.
The red, the yellow and the wood ....
Looks like alpaca I just visited in Amy's Ontario farm.
The white queen ann lace are still blooming in the cool mountain.
Host Genoa and I have a break by the lake.
While we've a break the bird has to "pick" from Genoa's hand.
That's yesterday Genoa and I walked with her dog Shanti in the BC Vancouver Island. Early this morning at 4am Genoa dropped me off to take the small flight from Comox to Vancouver. Have to say goodbye to my sweet host. My next stop is not my final destination or full stop.
Arriving early in the B&B "White House I already explored the city on my own. Walking in the downtown and along the streets some trees are turning yellow to red, vivid colours.

Vancouver is a liveble city with waterfront and greenery everywhere.

Can you feel the joy?
Well, my "mission" in Canada has not yet completed. Tomorrow will have a social meet up with artists in Granville Island
and explore the cultural and artistic ambiance.
